Kids Cooking Halloween Recipe: Sundae, Bloody Sundae (aka Strawberry Chocolate Sundae with Halloween Sprinkles)

Posted by the Mom (aka Kelly Biedny)

Part of the fun of Halloween for us is coming up with Halloween recipes that kids can make and then giving them super Halloween-y names.  That’s how we came up with this scary sundae.

The ingredients for this are not scary at all, however and we’re pretty sure the strawberry ‘blood’ sauce will be a big hit, not just because of the gruesome name.  The sprinkles add that final holiday touch, we found ours online, but this time of year you should be able to find sprinkles at lots of stores in ghost, or bone or some other spooky shape.

Enjoy the recipe and Happy Halloween Cooking Everyone!

Kids Cooking Halloween Recipe: Sundae, Bloody Sundae (aka Strawberry Chocolate Sundae with Halloween Sprinkles)

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Chocolate Syrup
  • Halloween Sprinkles
  • Strawberry Sauce - recipe follows
  • Strawberry Sauce Ingredients
  • 2 Cups Strawberries
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/8 Cup Water

Instructions

    Strawberry Sauce Instructions
  • Clean and halve your strawberries. A younger child can help rinse them in the water. Older kids can cut off the stem and halve them.
  • Add the halved strawberries, sugar and water into a food processor. Pouring the ingredients into the food processor is great of any age kids. Older kids can help younger kids measure as well.
  • Run the food processor until the mixture is well blended. It can still be a bit chunky.
  • Let the sauce refrigerate for at about 1/2 hour to chill.
  • Sundae Instructions
  • Take a sundae dish or a small bowl and scoop in one to two scoops of ice cream. This is best left to kids with some scooping muscle :D
  • Next, spoon over a few Tablespoons of chocolate syrup. There is no exact measurement for this, just cover the vanilla to your preference. Supervise the kids so they have some ice cream with their chocolate syrup.
  • Top the chocolate syrup with a few spoonfuls of the refrigerated strawberry syrup.
  • Finally, top with Halloween-y sprinkles and enjoy!
