Kids Crafts: Spooky Ghost Lamp Shade

Posted by Sue

Halloween is fast approaching and it is one of my favorite holidays. I love to decorate with all sort of spooky (not really) characters. This ghost is one my neighbor girl, Claire, helped me make.

To make our ghost you will need some cheesecloth. You can buy it at grocery stores, hardware stores, Walmart, Target. We used one package which was approx. 4 square feet. You will also need a piece of black felt to cut the eyes out of, and some masking tape.

Step 1:
Cut the cheese cloth in half so you have to pieces 2 feet long. This will make two ghosts.

Step 2:
Cut to circle shapes from the black felt for the eyes of your ghost.

Step 3:
Open the cheese cloth all the way to a single thickness, then hang it on your lamp shade and decide where you want the eyes to go.

Step 4:
Take the cheese cloth off the lampshade and lay it on a flat surface. Mark the spots where you want your eyes to be with a small piece of masking tape.

Step 5:
Slide the black felt eyes under the cloth and center them where the tape markers are.

Step 6:
Take two or three more pieces of masking tape and tape the felt in place on the cheesecloth. Since the fabric has holes the tape will stick right through it.

Step 7:
Now just hang your spooky shade on your lamp for a Ghostly Light on Halloween Night!
