Kids Cooking: New Year’s Appetizers for the Whole Family

Posted by the Mom (aka Kelly Biedny)

Over the last few days…well, really since Christmas…we’ve been relaxing and taking it easy. Alex woke up with a fever on Christmas and was sick for two days, so we used that as an excuse to be hermits. We just hung out and played with new stuff, did some crafts and kitchen science and tried out some new recipes, of course 😀 But, in just a few more days it’s gonna be 2013 and we’ve got a family shin-dig all planned.  This year the kids and I will be ringing in the New Year at my brother and his wife’s brand new place.  Grandma and Wayne will be there as well as my boyfriend Dave.

Every year I have the kids on New Year’s Eve, we like to cook up some appetizer’s to snack on while playing games and chatting ’til the New Year. Today we’re sharing a few of the recipes we’ve made for past New Year’s Eves.

If you are gonna have kids as part of your New Year’s festivities, you might be interested in our ‘Kids Cooking Party Ideas for the New Year‘ downloadable PDF.

Or, if you just want some appetizer ideas that are great for the mini’s to help with, here are recipes for our Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus, Mini-Wrapped Hotdogs, and Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Skewers (You can see Alex and Soph, along with Alex’s friend, Carter, demonstrate the recipes on Two Kids Cooking TV, too).

Alex’s Secret Recipe Chicken Strips are a great appetizer as well. And again, you can see it demonstrated on Two Kids Cooking TV here.

We also have a super tasty Chicken Wing recipe you can see us demonstrate.

And, if you check out Our Recipe Index in the Appetizer section, you’ll see lots more easy appetizer recipes.  Note that the index is not fully inclusive at this point, but has many of our recipes.

Happy New Year Everyone!
