Kids Cooking & Crafts: Make Your Own Bath Fizzies for Valentines Day

Posted by the Mom (aka Kelly Biedny)

This is a crafty recipe we’ve wanted to try for awhile. It’s from Barbara Beery’s Spa Princess Cookbook (one of our fav’s), but because of the citric acid in it, we hadn’t gotten to it.  I finally ordered a 5 lb bag of citric acid from Amazon.com–yes, 5 lbs…but it should be useful for other stuff, like making mozzarella!

We also tried making the milk bath cookies in the cookbook, but they were a no-go…we tried twice and are apparently no good with that recipe. This one, though was easy, fun AND, it turned out great!  The fizzy-ness they provide to your bath is awesome, as well.

We made ours heart-shaped for Valentine’s day, cuz these would make a fun Valentine’s gift packaged up all cute. You could even make some Colorful Bath Salts and/or Lavender Body Oil to go with.

The recipe and step-by-step are in the book, so we won’t go into detail, but here are our pics! (Between regular ice making use, this activity and making our heart-shaped compound butter, you’ll see our heart mold’s are getting lots of use lately 😀

Happy Valentines Everyone!
