Sophia likes owls, but so do lots of people these days it seems. I think they’re cute and all, too, but I especially like our Olivette the Owl Necklace Kits. A couple of weeks ago we promised to share the pattern for Olivette so if you want, you can cut out your own, painting it and wear it. Of course this approach will require adult intervention 😀
Now, there’s always the easy way, our Olivette the Owl Necklace Kits that come with everything you need, already cut!
If you are a more advanced crafter, here’s everything you’ll need to make your very own Olivette from scratch:
– 1/8 " Birch Plywood
– Cord cut to the length you want your necklace
– Acrylic Paints
– Wood Glue
– Sand Paper
– Olivette the Owl Necklace Pattern
Here’s the step-by-step how-to:
1. First trace your pattern on to your wood.
The pattern for Olivette is to size, so trace it on the 1/8″ birch plywood exactly as it is, unless you want it a different size 😀
2. Next, cut your pattern out on a jigsaw.
This is for adults or older kids with supervision it is pretty small, though so be very careful and don’t forget safety goggles!
4. Paint Your Owl.
Decide how you want to paint your owl, base painting the owl body first and letting it dry. Then add your colorful designs and wing colors. Paint the eyes and beak separately and let them dry.
That’s all there is to it, now you’re ready to be the most fashion-y person around with your custom, one-of-a-kind Olivette the Owl Necklace!
