Since this is our first Halloween in our new house, we’re having fun figuring out how to decorate. We have more space then we have in awhile, so we’ve been looking for inspiration in magazines and on Pinterest. Our bat wall is a Pinterest inspiration—although it was butterfly’s, not bats. When I saw it, I knew we’d have a bat wall!
All you need is a bat pattern…here’s a link to the one I came up with–but any bat shape will do. Once we had a pattern, Sophia and I started tracing the bats on to black construction paper using white colored pencils. Once we’d traced, the cutting started. Our hands did get a bit sore with all the cutting, but it was well worth it. We have 95 bats, personally I’d like a few more so I might cut some additional while relaxing in our bat cave…we’ll see.
Sophia and I have also been brainstorming other seasonal holiday flying creatures to stick on our big empty wall. For Christmas it might just be a sleigh with Reindeer. Luckily there are only 9 reindeer and one Santa?
We’d love your ideas for other holiday wall collages like this….share your idea with us in a comment!
Have a Bat-tastic Halloween!
